            <l>They send of tender sympathy</l>
            <l>To bless the place, where on their opening soul</l>
            <l>First the genuine ardor stole.</l>
            <l>'Twas <hi>Milton</hi> struck the deep-toned shell,</l>
            <l>And, as the choral warblings round him swell,</l>
            <l>Meek <hi>Newton's</hi> self bends from his state sublime,</l>
            <l>And nods his hoary head, and listens to the rhyme.</l>

            <l>From haughty <hi>Gallia</hi> torn,</l>
            <l>And sad <hi>Chatillon,</hi> on her bridal morn</l>
            <l>That wept her bleeding Love, and princely <hi>Clare,</hi>

            <l>And <hi>Anjou's</hi> Heroïne, and the paler Rose,</l>
            <l>The rival of her crown, and of her woes,</l>
            <l>And either <hi>Henry</hi> there,</l>

            <l>And bad these aweful fanes and turrets rise,</l>
            <l>To hail their <hi>Fitzroy's</hi> festal morning come;</l>
            <l>And thus they speak in soft accord</l>
            <l>The liquid language of the skies.</l>
